Sian Mills
We are proud to announce that we have awarded a grant to Sian, a talented player from Kempston Rugby Club. Sian has been selected to represent the England Deaf squad in an upcoming international series in South Africa, where she will compete in three test matches. Her exceptional skills and leadership have earned her the position of vice captain for the team. This will be Sian's fourth cap for England. Our grant will assist with the costs of travel and equipment, supporting her in this significant achievement and contributing to her continued success on the international stage.
Born to Play.
Sian's journey began in Luton, where she was a constant companion to her mother, who juggled the demands of caring for two disabled grandparents while also serving as chairwoman and team manager. Inspired by her mother’s dedication, Sian got involved in rugby early on, participating in the Dunstablians and Leighton Buzzards women’s teams.
At the age of 10, Sian moved to Bedford, marking a significant turning point in her rugby career. She started with Bedford Blues before moving to Ampthill, where she spent seven seasons honing her skills. Her passion and dedication led her to Buckingham, where she played at the highest level possible while simultaneously earning a first-class degree in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation.
Sian’s impressive achievements include making her England debut at the age of 17. By the age of 22, she has earned four international caps and holds the position of Vice-Captain for the England Deaf squad. Her leadership and talent have been recognized and celebrated, and she is a proud member of a driven and talented team.
Tour Grant.
We have awarded Sian a grant of £1,000 to assist with travel, kit, and accommodation for Sian’s participation in the upcoming international test series in South Africa.
Sian’s dreams extend further into the realm of premier rugby. She is committed to continually challenging herself, developing her skills, and striving for excellence. We wish her the best.
