Lowri Hurd

Lowri, an exceptional table tennis player from Bedford, won both the Welsh National U19 and U21 Championships at just 16 years old. Her ambition is to compete in the Commonwealth Games for Wales and represent Great Britain. We have provided a grant to support Lowri in attending all GB training camps and mandatory competitions, both in the UK and internationally, as well as contributing significantly to other events.

Proven Champion.

Lowri began playing table tennis at a young age, inspired by her mother and grandfather, who both represented Wales. She aspires to follow in their footsteps by competing in the Commonwealth Games for Wales and representing Great Britain.

This season has been particularly remarkable for Lowri. At just 16, she won the Welsh National U19 and U21 Championships. In 2023, she earned a silver medal in the U19 team event at the Austrian Youth Open with Team Wales and won the consolation singles event this year. At the Home Nations in November 2023, she secured a silver medal in the U19 singles and a gold medal in the U19 doubles. Additionally, she played a key role in the Wales U19 girls team’s 12th-place finish at the 2023 European Youth Championships. Earlier this year, she helped the Charles Read Academy win the National Schools team event and will represent England Schools at the ISF World Games in Bahrain in October.

Competition Grant.

Lowri received a grant of £3,000 to support her attendance at all GB training camps and mandatory competitions, both in the UK and internationally, as well as to contribute significantly to other events.

Although Lowri already plays table tennis at an elite level, she aims to further improve her skills. Her ultimate goals are to represent Wales at the senior level, compete in the Commonwealth Games, and potentially represent Great Britain at the Olympic Games.
