Sophia Hooley

Sophia began her tennis journey at the age of six at the Riverside Tennis Club. Since then, tennis has become her life and passion. She dreams of competing at Wimbledon, and her dedication to the sport is unmatched. Every morning, she wakes up early and practices tirelessly, even using the lounge wall to perfect her skills. Her tenacity and drive are truly remarkable. We have made a grant to help with costs of coaching and tournament entry.

Special Talent.

Sophia has recently been recognised as a local sporting hero by Bedford Borough Council for her impressive tennis achievements. Representing Bedfordshire in County tennis, she currently holds the County Champion title and has qualified for a Grade 2 tournament at the National Tennis Centre. With 16 tournament victories under her belt, Sophia dreams of earning a spot at Wimbledon, practising diligently at her local Riverside Tennis Club.

The club is actively encouraging female participation in tennis, and we are incredibly proud of Sophia for representing the girls and showcasing her potential. Ranked 32nd in the country for girls aged nine by the LTA, Sophia has an outstanding win rate of 85%. To maintain her high ranking and continue her success, it is crucial for her to compete in as many tournaments as possible.

Coaching Grant.

Sophia received a grant of £2,000 to pay for 1 to 1 lessons with her coach and tournament entry.

She currently trains in 2 performance squads at Riverside, one is 9U and one is 10U. She also does fitness training with her Dad who is a Personal Trainer and then she has 1 to 1 coaching with Rob Stean every weekend.
